Administrative Support Assistant (OA)

The purpose of this position is to provide routine administrative support to the park's division chiefs/supervisors performing a wide variety of office management, secretarial, clerical, procurement, and financial duties. Administrative support and coordination functions involve 1) advisory services (serves as the principal park point of contact for administrative support and coordination functions); 2) financial management (processes bills and works with financial programs); 3) human resources (manages park payroll, including advising managers and employees on payroll procedures and regulations; orients new employees, prepares travel and other forms; 4) acquisition and property management (makes purchases with government purchase card; orders equipment and supplies, troubleshoots office equipment and trains employees on operation of equipment):
5) information management (operates computer programs); and administrative/program support services (prepares and coordinates park correspondence; maintains central files; answers main phone line; sorts/distributes mail). Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/23/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. This position performs automation work, and typing 40 words per minute is required. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-5 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
performing administrative functions in support of a variety of functions such as payroll, personnel management, travel, procurement, data entry or reconciliation for a budget, and preparing formal correspondence or reports. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hour or 180 quarter hours) in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. Volunteer

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
